Today was the last day of school for me before Thanksgiving break, and it was also Micah's "Turkey Trot" event at school. He woke up bright-eyed and bushy tailed full of snot and awesome bed head this morning!
I love so many things about my school, and I'm thankful for such a wonderful place to teach. One of my very favorite things would be my boss. She is so wonderful, and she's so pro-family. Even though today fell on that "day before a holiday" rule, she let me take a half day off to spend time with Micah for his special Thanksgiving at his school.
Before we left for church, I took Micah out in the front yard under our amazing red maple to take some pictures. I thought he might enjoy playing in the leaves. This also might (sniff sniff) be our last fall in this house, so I wanted to get some pictures of our little man under one of my favorite things about the house--the tree in the fall!
Look at that hair swoop going on!
People that have known me for a loooonnnng time know I used to have a thing for guys with the "frat boy swoop" as we called it. Ok, it really has another name, but I can't reveal that name on the internet because it actually names a guy I had a crush on in middle school. That would just be too much information. Luckily, I ended up with my honey Mr. C who is still sporting his frat boy swoop. =)
Apparently, we can create an offspring with some awesome frat boy swoop at the ripe age of 23 months.
This is my favorite photo of the day! I just can't believe how big he's gotten this past year! Don't you also love the turkey shirt my mom made? Yes, she made that. She's awesome like that.
What follows are lots and lots of pictures of leaves, red maple trees, and my son in a turkey shirt. Also, there are a few pictures from Turkey Trot at his school.
Seriously. Can you imagine if that hair was on a girl? So much hair! We get so many compliments on it, though.
This would be my other favorite shot of the day.
Lately he's doing this massive "cheese face" which is pretty funny.
I was trying to get him under our massive red tree. I really like this shot, too.
Artistic photography? Probably not.
Micah enjoyed our breakfast together at Dunkin Donuts, and then I dropped him off at school around 9AM. Turkey Trot started at 11 AM, so I used those couple of hours to quickly run around buying birthday supplies for Micah's party this weekend. After my errands, I picked Micah back up for some fun at the carnival in the gym.
Trying to get him to bowl.
At the cookie station (which was run by his teacher Mrs. Tracy), he decorated a cookie. I think he picked this station because he was just running to Mrs. Tracy.
I love days like this where I can take off "teacher" hat and just be Mommy. =)
He loved the icing station!
It was a joke with my friends trying to get a picture of Micah looking at the camera while I was also looking with my eyes open. Here's one shot of him trying to run off. These are my typical days around this house!
He loved the trampoline station, but he pretty much just stayed here or in the floor. Unfortunately, he's a little too small for some of the activities. Ok. Maybe he is not too small, but he is not patient enough to stand in all the lines to wait to do stuff.
Instead, he spent a majority of his time on the floor digging through his bag of candy.
He did love digging around the "haystack" to find treasures buried below.
However, all roads would lead back to the trampoline.
Our last stop was the duck pond, and he really enjoyed digging ducks out of the water. Unfortunately, by that time...we had to leave. I had to be back at work by 12:15, and his daddy had an emergency come up at work. We were supposed to swap out, but it just didn't work out. We missed the picnic lunch, but I did swing by to make sure we got our lunch we ordered from McAlister's.
All in all, we had a wonderful morning playing together and having Mommy/Micah time. I really enjoyed my half of a morning off! =)
