The week of Daycare Leah.

Instead of doing a lot of posts from June 23rd and on, I've decided to lump them together in one long post full of pictures. I'll try to keep the commentary to a minimum, but you have been warned about the pictures. (And I'm using Flickr links, so please PLEASE let me know if you can't see my pictures.)

We went to our friends' house to celebrate the news of their new baby boy! Micah made a mess, so Mr. George (who asked specifically NOT to be on the blog in pictures) washed him off in their sink. I hope having Mr. George's hand in the picture is ok.

Congrats, Mr. George and Mrs. Steph! Micah can't wait to meet his new friend Nicholas in the near future!!!

We decided to brave a nice restaurant after church that Sunday night, so we headed to Macaroni Grill. I still had a gift card from my old principal from when Micah was born. Yes! Nineteen months ago. We are quite the gift card hogs when we want to be.

Micah enjoyed his Italian food, and he also liked coloring with the kid crayons on the table.

He had chicken parm and loved it!

Micah demonstrated his love of reading and his odd habit of curling up with a blanket.

He has to have a blanket around him as he reads, and he always sits in the same corner.

He makes sure to arrange the blanket "just so" until he is happy and comfortable. I didn't get it on video, but I thought this photo documentation would suffice.

The stages of proper blanket placement and arrangement before book reading can commence according to Micah.

I took a picture of Micah demonstrating his love of yogurt which he still insists on calling "wawa" despite my insistence that it is most definitely not water.

This week was also labeled "the week of Daycare Leah" as I watched two kiddos this week to help out family members and my friends.

Our first friend to come to Daycare Leah was Beau, my friend Tami's son. They have made an appearance on the blog before, and we were happy to have the company for the day! Micah loved having a playmate. While Beau's sis had her surgery, we made sure to entertain him with Micah's toys.

All pictures were taken on my iPhone, so I apologize for the poor quality.
Playing in Micah's room.

Partners in crime--they are almost exactly a year apart in age.

This is what I found in Micah's crib when I left to go to the bathroom. They dumped out all of Micah's "night-night" diapers.

The boys enjoyed playing in the living room on and off all day long.

While Micah slept, Beau enjoyed a gourmet lunch of deli meat, peaches, cheese, and crackers.

The boys after Micah's nap watching Veggie Tales on Netflix.

Leah Daycare day 2 came later in the week while my mom had an outpatient procedure of her own. She usually watches my nephew Ebin, so I spent the day watching Micah and Ebin instead.

Bedhead pictures of cousins are the best.

Right after I took these pictures, Ebin reached over to hold Micah's hand. As soon as he saw me, he snatched his hand back. It was so cute for the moment, though!

The boys were watching some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and they were a bit mesmerized. =)

I'm so thankful for friends that I can help out, and who will help us out. I'm also thankful for so much family around to help us out.

Family pictures 2012.

We had some family photos taken a couple of weeks ago, and the CD came in the mail with all the pictures just this last weekend. As always, the wonderful Crystal Brisco took our family photos, and I was extremely pleased. They were taken at an old, abandoned barn, and these were the photos with my whole entire side of the family. Enjoy!

Me, Mr. C, and Micah (pre haircut--click here for the post with his first haircut!)

Our family 2012:
Jason, Ebin, Keren, KayKay (my mom), Papa (my dad behind my brother), Dale (my brother with special needs), me, Mr. C. holding Micah

My sister's family--Jason, Keren, Ebin

Me, my mom, and my sister. I think it is obvious who I favor in this picture.

Getting a picture of Micah alone or cooperating proved difficult this time since he just wanted to run. I think this turned out pretty cute!

Our family again.

Keren's fam again. They had some wonderful photos, and Ebin was so cooperative this time!

Me, my brother Dale, and Keren

The men of our family (which obviously outnumber us substantially!)

Sweet cousins in the original Radio Flyer wagon of my childhood.

Micah's crazy curly headed long locks.

A small glimpse into our future? Little buddies.

Micah's first haircut.

The time has finally come. Micah needed a haircut much to most of my friends' & families' opinions. (They said they loved, loved, loved his curls.) However, after he put Vaseline all over his hair, I just was over it.

In case you want to catch up, here is post 1 and post 2 on the Vaseline. If anything, he provided some comic relief for us! However, after that battle and many food in his hair battles at dinner time, I was over the hair. So I was ready to whack it off.

Here is our before picture. Look at all that hair! I mean, he has a ton of hair. Honestly, he comes by it naturally from my thick curly hair to his father's full head of hair.

Messy little rat's nest in the back that I was having to blow dry to tame it!

My friend Stephanie's mom (Mrs. Ginger) cuts hair in her home, and I thought that would be easier than taking him to a salon. Mrs. Ginger loves Micah to death, and we see them at church all the time. So I took Micah to her house for the cut.

He was not too happy about wearing the cape.

Mrs. Ginger cutting Micah's hair for the first time.
(Side note: I have actually trimmed his hair a million and a half times myself. I'm not saying that I did a good job of it, but I couldn't have really gone 18 months with no haircut. It was just finally time to get it in a style.)

What a face! He was not having this hair cutting business!

In the corner of the picture you'll see Mr. Vito (Mrs. Ginger's husband) coming in to try to get Micah happy and entertained.

What's under that blanket?

I'm going to get your toes, Micah!

After a while, he started to calm down and a new hairstyle was appearing.

I guess I should be sad about his first haircut, but I know it will grow back if I really want it long again.

Mr. Vito is sooooo funny, Mama!
I'm glad I don't have the job of cutting squirmy kids' hair!

We let it air dry so I didn't really get an "after" photo, but you can tell a huge difference right away.

Well, Micah. Another milestone has come and gone by so fast!

We love you, big boy!

Jenna's Journey Commenting Blog Challenge

Hi! My name is Leah, and I participating in the Jenna's Journey Commenting Challenge. Welcome to my site, and I am a little behind so I've combined days 2-3 in this post. Nice to "meet" you! Thanks for commenting. =)

Welcome to day 2 of the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge!

If this is your first time here and you're trying to figure out what the challenge is, or if you need to link your blog to the challenge click here!

I promised you all that I'd give you a topic to blog about for each day of this challenge! So here is todays topic:

Tell us about your blog. What do you blog about? Why do you blog? How did you start blogging? What kinds of things do you/are you willing to share with the world? Where do you find your topic inspiration? (Hint: Don't share about your social media just yet!)

I'm a little late to day 2, and I figured I could combine it with day 3, too? If you are here from Jenna's Journey Commenting Challenge, welcome!

My name is Leah, and I mainly blog about these two guys:

That would be my husband (also known as "Mr. C" on the blog) and my son Micah. Here we are this weekend after church enjoying a gift card to Macaroni Grill after church on Sunday night.

I started blogging years and years ago before it was "popular" to do, and I even had a WordPress blog. However, since then I have learned a lot about blogging. Such as, do not put your full name in your blog address. I realized that I was very "google-able" to my students and parents that I teach. I love to be on the internet, and I love to have an open blog. I've met so many friends this way, but at the same time I'm not sure I want every second grader who passes through my door to read of our exploits.

Is that weird? I'll share our world with strangers, but I don't want my students to read about their teacher? Maybe that is weird.

I started blogging just because I love to write. I wrote stories growing up, and writing has always been my outlet! I mean, I absolutely love it.

As time went on, my rambles without pictures turned into a marriage scrapbook of Mr. C & our life together. After which, I turned my pregnant life into a scrapbook, and then I reinvented our current blog with a new web address after Micah was born so I could totally devote this blog to him. I've also recently discovered running, and I'm trying to live a healthy lifestyle. I've got a lot of posts dedicated to that, too.

I'm willing to share most things, but I have to say that I try to keep this blog upbeat. That probably isn't "real" all the time, but I don't like to whine too much. I will absolutely not share my opinion on educational politics or topics regarding education. I guess that is more for fear of keeping my job? Not sure, but freedom of speech with internet these days can be a dangerous thing. So I just watch that since I love my job and hope to keep it! =)

Onto day 3!

Welcome to day 3 of the 3rd Annual Blog Commenting Challenge!

If this is your first time here and you're trying to figure out what the challenge is, or if you need to link your blog to the challenge click here.

Welcome to Day 3! Our topic today is two-fold:

Tell us about your social media! Where can we find you? Link to your twitter, pinterest, Facebook, instagram, or google +. If you don't use those sites, then tell us why not!

Also, what are your favorite websites? Are there any that you check daily? What do you like about them?

You can find me on every single social media site there is out there! Haha! Alright, it isn't really that bad, but I do like some blogging and social media!

I used Twitter, and you can find me at @confidentblog.

I used Facebook, and I probably check this one the most. My tweets are mostly at night since I am a working mom, but Facebook has become my "go to" social media. If you really want to know my "full real name", email me, and I'd be glad to add you as a friend. Otherwise, I keep my "real name" off the blog because of the "google-able" reasons stated above. I have actually "met" some friends on Twitter that I have welcomed into my Facebook world, so feel free to ask.

I don't even know how google + works, and it seems like one more thing for me to figure out. So I'm not going to. Haha!

I also love Instagram, and you can follow me @confidentblog there, too. (I like to keep it simple!)

I have a Pinterest site, too, but honestly I don't use it that much. I'm @confidentblog there, too. (See? Keeping it simple.) I use it more for birthday party inspiration or when I need teaching ideas. It is a time sucker, so I try to stay off if I can.

Websites I check daily? Hmmm.

I don't have a lot, but I must check Three Kids, a Minivan, and a Mortgage every single day! Thank goodness I have a reader for that! It's the story of Lucy, a six year old with cancer. Her family is from around where I live, so I know lots of people who know them. God's faithfulness to this family despite devastating illness is just inspirational. I have to check on her daily for prayer updates.

I also (like most Christian women bloggers) love to read Kelly's Korner

A few of my "in real life friends" blogs that I enjoy:

Deepe's Peeps My friend Summer from college.

Better Than Life My friend Amanda from college.

A Brighter Yellow  My twitter friend Kodi.

The Hairbow Chronicles My friend Ellen from college.

I have so many more I could share, but those are some of my favorites in my Google Reader.

What about you? I'm trying to keep up with my blogging commenting challenge, so feel free to leave us a comment.
